woodbridge suburb profile

Woodbridge is an older suburb, rich in history with many heritage homes, the most stately of which is Woodbridge House.

On the banks of Swan River, it was originally built by Charles Harper – agriculturalist, politician and part owner of The West Australian Newspaper, as a family home for his wife Fanny and their ten children. Over time it was converted for use by Guildford Grammar School, as a Women’s home during World War Two and has since been lovingly restored for public viewing and as host to Riverside Café & Restaurant.

Backing onto Ray Marshall Park and Swan River, you can’t forget the picturesque Coal Dam Park which is a haven for birds, walkers and picnickers with the selection of parkland, boardwalks and viewing platforms. Close by, nestled on the fringe of Woodbridge is Bolt Coffee Roasters, fuelling us on a daily basis; it forms a vibrant community hub with Men of The Trees. After the morning drop-off, you will find parents relaxing with a cup of coffee before they continue with the day and on weekends friends and family gathering by the melodies of the local buskers.

Adjoining the Midland CBD, Woodbridge residents enjoy all the benefits that the bustling metropolitan hub offers while maintaining a unique foothills lifestyle with the renowned character of the neighbouring suburb Guildford. There is a huge selection of homes that range from new apartments to town houses plus traditional larger blocks that have been both untouched and developed over time. Combining the new and old, Woodbridge presents great opportunities for families with a selection of private and public schools to choose from.
