why we are addicted to mood boards + why you should create your own today

Creatives have been using mood boards to map out their thoughts for quite some time, however they haven’t come into the common sphere until more recently.

Mood boards are a twist on your typical collage, made up of different images, textures, text, and all forms of inspiration. Whether you need to visualise, are a planner, designer, or just like pretty things, a mood board is a great way to see your thoughts on paper (or in some cases, a computer screen).

Mood boards are a great way to help you envision what you want in the future and pin-point what actions and achievement will get you there. Placing your mood board in a prominent position will ensure that you stay inspired and motivated when working towards long term goals. Since being introduced to them at industry training, we have utilised our own mood boards as part of our goal setting and seen some great success follow!

In terms of building a home or renovating, mood boards are a great opportunity to gather all your ideas and inspiration. Ask yourself how you would like your ideal house to look – from the front façade, to the layout and internal fittings. This used to get messy cutting out pictures and pages from your favourite home magazines, however if that’s no longer your style Pinterest provides an endless source of inspiration. You can create your very own board to collect ideas for each rooms colour palette, textures, patterns, feeling and furniture or even stockpile a heap of floorplans you like so when you find that dream block there are a selection that might suite.
