In keeping with the suburbs strong historic foundations, overlooking the park is the versatile stone town hall – the original cellar to the winery on which the village was established. Gently evolving over the ages, this is where you can now find your inner zen at yoga classes or contemplate the latest local art exhibit. Surrounded by historic pine trees, the central hub has great recreation facilities with an oval, playground and skate park, there are even some tennis courts so you can practice your serve to be the next Pat Rafter.
An iconic pocket of the Perth Hills, Darlington grew from an agricultural area to a popular holiday destination, especially amongst honeymooners during the 1920’s and 1930’s. Always a Hills retreat, it is now a popular wedding destination too with the lovely Darlington Estate Winery. Personally, we like to go there and treat ourselves to a delectable fine-dining experience with friends. The tranquil venue boasts a combination of rolling vineyard and bush views, creating a truly exceptional atmosphere. Heart warming in it’s rustic design, there is no wondering why it has become an increasingly sought-after wedding venue given the recent rustic/boho style obsessions through fashion and home.
If you haven’t already, you will soon discover Darlington to be the perfect getaway from the stresses and strains of city life. Thanks to Great Eastern Highway and Roe Highway, you can be out of the city or suburbia and sitting on your front verandah looking out over the rolling treetops in no time. A lovely laid-back environment, there is a calmness that flows over you here where schedules and deadlines suddenly seem far less pressing. Offering total tranquillity, Darlington has proven popular among those more community and creatively minded. Every year residents come together to proudly host the renowned Annual Arts Festival held in the first week of November.
The variable terrain and artistic inclinations have developed lots of quirky, individually designed, architecturally excellent homes over the years meaning no two Darlington homes look or feel the same. With a fantastic range of lifestyle properties in all shapes, sizes and landscapes, many homes are swathed by vibrant green tree scapes and boast views of the city skyline on the horizon. Families are happy here with ample room for everyone to run around and play, not to mention the two wonderful schools tucked in the centre of the village.
